Lynn’s on a mission

Weight loss wonder

- Jean Ward

An Airdrie woman who lost half her body weight in less than two years is starting her own slimming group to inspire others.

Mum-of-two Lynn Johnston, 44, will launch her Slimming World class next week and hopes others will join up and follow her example.

In August we reported how Lynn was named the top slimmer at Slimming World’s Hallcraig Street branch, after shedding an incredible 12 stone in just 22 months.

Determined Lynn won her battle of the bulge and dropped a whopping eight dress sizes into the bargain, going from an unhealthy size 28 to a svelte size 12 into the bargain. Speaking about her new venture Lynn told the Advertiser: I’m nervous, excited and basically experiencing all sorts of emotions at once.

“But most of all I’m really looking forward to starting.

“It’s all go at the moment. I’ve been putting up posters and leafleting but I’m sure it’ll be worth it once we’re up and running.”

Lynn was inspired to lose weight after her dad underwent a heart bypass operation two years ago, in October 2014.

And she has maintained her slimline look through a healthy eating regime and exercise plan which has stood her in good stead when making plans for her own slimming group.

Lynn continued: “The opportunity to become a consultant came up quite recently and I thought to myself, ’why not?’

“I’m really excited at the prospect and can’t wait to encourage others to achieve what I have.”

Husband Drew, 47, – who supported Lynn during her period of dramatic weight loss and shed a couple of stone himself – is helping out with Lynn’s new club. As are the couple’s children Ross, 22, and Amy, 19, making it a real family affair.

The class is in Springfield Community Centre on Monday at 7.30pm.
