Fun day at Morrison’s revamp
The Airdrie branch of Morrisons held a fun day to celebrate the store’s relaunch after a major eight-week refurbishment.
Cutting the ribbon at the Gartlea Road supermarket were its longest-serving staff member, checkout assistant Elaine Timmons, and regular customer Robert Wallace.
Staff were also joined for a day of festivities by Glengowan Primary School’s choir and young piper Amy McIntyre, plus characters from Paw Patrol and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Young customers were treated to facepainting, and shoppers had the chance to win a food hamper in a free prize draw, with the basket of goodies being handed over by store manager Gary McEwan and community champion Ann Seagriff.
The Airdrie supermarket now has an expanded and improved cafe including new seating and a pizza bar; while the refurbishment has also included a new floristry department, Timpsons operation and customer service desk.
Gary said: “It’s been a massive refurbishment, bringing everything up to date; and the feedback from customers has been great, especially about the cafe.
“The relaunch day was really good fun.
“Elaine is our longestserving colleague and has been here for 38 years, and Robert is a lovely gentleman who’s in the store almost every day and always chats away to the staff.”
