Oz firms provide support

Airdrieonians have gone Down Under to secure a lucrative sponsorship deal.

The Diamonds have a two-year agreement in place with companies Australian Oil & Gas College (AOGC) and Osprey Global.

Dave Walker, who is general manager at Osprey and AOGC chief operating officer, emigrated from Airdrie in 1996.

But he has never stopped loving the Diamonds and is delighted to be able to back the club he supports.

The Aussie firms will sponsor the back of the shirts and the East Stand at New Broomfield for a five-figure fee.

Mr Walker, a married dad-of-two who is originally from Whinhall, said:“I’ve been an Airdrie fan since the early 80s.

“I have followed the trials and tribulations of the club. Going to Prague for our European game was a highlight and it was great to get the name back a few years ago.

“Osprey and AOGC are extremely proud and privileged to be able to sponsor the club and to be in such a partnership with the Diamonds.”

Mr Walker, who lives in Brisbane, plans to enter the Scottish market offering specific competence and training services to the oil, gas and marine services industry.

And he’s hoping to make it back for Elton John’s big gig next summer.

“I couldn’t believe it when the concert was announced,”he added.

“It will be great for the town and hopefully I’ll be able to watch it.”
