Events in Reid’s honour
The first events in Albion Rovers defender Alan Reid’s testimonial year have been announced.
A race night will be held at The Georgian Hotel on Friday, November 4, from 7.30pm. Entry is £5 per person. The Coatbridge hotel will also be the venue for a speakers’night hosted by comedian Pat Rolink on Thursday, November 10. Tickets are £10.
And on Saturday, January 28, a testimonial dinner has been scheduled with Bill Copeland a guest speaker. It is £40 per person.
Fans’favourite Reid made his Rovers debut in April 2006 and been part of the team promoted through the play-offs five years ago and the title-winning squad in 2015.
He was also involved in Rovers’ dream run to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup two-and-a-half years ago.
Reid admits there have been plenty of magic moments in his time with the Cliftonhill club and picked out the 2011 success as being among the best.
He said:“There have been too many highlights – it is difficult to pick one out.
“Being promoted through the play-offs was a highlight as it was the first bit of success we really had.
“The feeling when that whistle went – knowing you had been promoted with a club like Albion Rovers. “It was an incredible time. “To be part of that group was brilliant.”
