Andy can have life of Ryan

-

Kevin McBride reckons Andy Ryan has got what it takes to make it back to the top.

The former Hamilton Accies hitkid has impressed since he joined Airdrieonians on a full-time deal in the summer.

Ryan has netted seven goals and will be looking to add to that tally when Peterhead come calling this Saturday (kick-off 5.15pm).

Head coach McBride believes the 22-year-old striker is showing the sort of form which will be interesting other clubs.

He said:“I wanted to get certain players in and Andy was one of them. I was with him at Hamilton and I know what sort of player he is.

“If you give him a chance he will score goals.

“But it is not just that. His work-rate is such that he just doesn’t stop.

“He links up play and must be a nightmare for defenders.

“He was vital to our plan and we were delighted to get him signed.

“I think he is better than League One. We’re fortunate that we’ve got him and lucky to have him on a two-year deal.”

Airdrie will be stars of the small screen this weekend when their League One clash with the Blue Toon is shown live on BBC ALBA.

McBride added:“On paper, Peterhead have got one of the best teams in this league and this will be one of our most difficult games.”
