CAB events could help you cut household energy bills

-

Airdrie citizens’ advice bureau ( CAB) is hosting four special information and advice events to help residents cut energy bills – and ensure they are receiving best value on gas and electricity as winter approaches.

The sessions form part of “big energy saving week”, which begins on Monday and encourages people to check and compare their energy tariffs to find the best deal, as well as passing on energy-saving tips.

Local CAB experts are running events at the town’s Job Centre on Tuesday; Airdrie community health centre next Wednesday, November 2; at the bureau office on Anderson Street the following day; and finally at Chapelside centre on Waddell Street next Friday, November 4.

Advisers have access to an online fuel price comparison tool, can check about eligibility for discounts and can pick up energy saving tips ranging from fitting cavity wall insulation and double glazing to switching appliances off standby and using draught excluders.

The sessions on November 1 and 3 run from 10am to 12 noon; November 2 from 2pm to 4pm; and November 4 from 10am to 12.30pm.

Airdrie bureau manager Aaliya Seyal said: “Checking your energy tariff and switching to a cheaper deal is one of the quickest and easiest ways to cut your bills.

“Big energy saving week is a great opportunity to get expert advice and we’d urge everyone to come to the events or contact our service for advice so they can start making savings.”
