Search for Sean

-

The search for missing Coatbridge man Sean McKenna has gone national after the family of X Factor contestant Ryan Lawrie wore T-shirts emblazoned with his picture on a live broadcast of the musical talent show.

Sean, 24, hasn’t been seen since leaving a pal’s house on Derwent Drive in Townhead early on October 10.

The community have rallied round Sean’s increasingly worried family, with scores of residents taking part in searches for the popular missing man.

Among those doing their bit to bring him home are the family of X Factor singer Ryan – also from Coatbridge.

Ryan’s sister Samantha travelled to see her brother perform on Saturday night’s live show and her group were seen in the crowd wearing T-shirts bearing Sean’s face and details of how to get in touch with information.

Samantha posed for a photo with X Factor host Dermot O’Leary while wearing one of the shirts with the image widely shared on social media.

Samantha said:“I met Sean a few years ago and although I didn’t know him well, we wanted to do our bit to raise awareness about the appeal for Sean’s safe return.

“When I saw Dermot running up the stairs during the show I grabbed him and got a quick picture. Dermot said,‘I hope you guys find him’ – he was great about it.”

Musician Ryan is trying to gather added support for the appeal to bring Sean home by getting his fellow X Factor contestants involved.

He said:“I am hoping to get all of the other performers together for a photo of us all wearing the T-shirts with Sean’s face on them later this week.”

Police have told the Advertiser there is“no update”on Sean’s whereabouts while once again urging people with information to contact Coatbridge police office by calling 101.
