Family launch funeral appeal

- Andrew Bargh

A relative of Airdrie man Malcolm McLaren has started a fundraising campaign to help cover funeral costs.

The 40-year-old was found dead at his home in Clark Street, near the town centre, on September 29.

Malcolm’s cousin Gemma McCue started the Justgiving page in an attempt to help the dad- of- four’s family with the impending financial hit.

And a target of £2000 has been set due to Malcolm not having a funeral plan arranged.

Gemma said: “Malcolm was a much-loved 40-year-old dad to four sons, an uncle, cousin and also a brother.

“Malcolm didn’t have a funeral plan in place so his family are up against odds to give him the sendoff he deserves.

“All I ask is if you can donate, no matter how big or small, to help the family out with one less thing.

“As you can appreciate, the family are in pieces and would appreciate any help you can give.”

Malcolm’s family also plan to make a donation to the Moira Fund, created in the name of Moira Jones, who was murdered in Glasgow’s Queen’s Park over eight years ago.

The fund supports the families of people who have been murdered.

Anyone who want s to donate can go to www. justgiving. com/ crowdfunding/ malcolmmclarenfuneralfund. Gordon McCrone, 45, has appeared in court, charged with murdering Malcom McLaren.
