With castles, beaches, mountains, woodlands and more to explore right on our doorsteps, not to mention endless entertainment options, there’s so much to enjoy within easy reach of our homes.

And when we asked you to tell us your favourite things to do for under a tenner as part of our brilliant competition sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland, there were no shortage of ideas for great ways to enjoy yourself with only a £10 note in your pocket. Here, we round up some of the top suggestions for Stirling and Perthshire…

Niki Hull would pack a couple of snacks in my rucksack and hike/trek from Tillicoultry up past King’s Seat, by Castle Campbell. She said: “We’re Historic Scotland members, so we’d possibly go in and chill in the gardens there before continuing the walk through the woods and pop in for a wee coffee at a tea shop. Snacks, petrol

and coffee shouldn’t break £10, and the views and peace and quiet are worth every penny!”

Fiona Leslie wrote: “I would use it for fuel to travel around the Trossachs with my camera. I moved to this stunningly beautiful area fairly recently, and l am loving exploring a different part of Scotland.” Kirsty Lawrie told us: “We would go to the Macmillan coffee shop at Quarrymill [Woodland Park in Perth] and enjoy their yummy cakes or soup while it goes to a good cause, then enjoy a much-needed walk around the beautiful park.” Claire Rowan would pay £2 to park at The Hermitage – a National Trust-protected woodland site in Dunkeld. She explained: “Then I’d walk

with the kids and dog through the woods up to the viewpoint followed by an ice cream at Stewart’s dairy.”

Gordon Muir revealed: “I would give the £10 to charity and go for a walk on one of the hundreds of wonderful woodlands our country has to offer like the Pass of Killiecrankie or Perth’s own Kinnoull Hill. We are blessed with beautiful scenery.”
