Activities this week include Sunday night bingo, with tickets on sale from 8pm and eyes down at 8.30pm. The Lucky Joker draw is made at 8.30pm on Sundays, with tickets on sale from committee members and bar staff. For more information see the club notice board.
Back Brae Gospel Hall The Sunday school sessions run from 2.30pm to 3.15pm. The breaking of bread takes place on Sundays at 11am. The evening Gospel meeting is held at 6.30pm every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month when the service runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. A prayer and Bible reading is also held every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9pm. Da Capo music group The group’s flute orchestra will be performing alongside the Queen Elizabeth Accordion Band at Glasgow Evangelical Church’s festival of remembrance on Sunday, November 6, at 6.30pm. They will supply music for the commemoration of the Battle of the Somme. Anyone interested in learning the flute or drums is welcome to attend the group’s band practice on Mondays at the Congregational Church hall on Broomknoll Street from 6pm. Contact John on 07525 064303 for details ofn the group. Stanrigg Miners’ Disaster Memorial is open to anyone who wants to visit. Transport to get up to the site is available. Call 01236 830637 for details. Community council will hold their annual general meeting on Tuesday, November 8, at 7.30pm.
Seniors’ meeting Senior citizens from the village are invited to attend the community hall on Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 3pm. There will be entertainment for men and women.
Children’s committee The Bonfire Night celebration has been moved to Saturday, November 5, at 7pm. The pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’ and Christmas party will be held in the social club on Saturday, December 17, and Monday, December 19, respectively. Forms for both are available from the committee or bar staff and should be returned by November 30. More details are available on the social club notice board.
