Facebook readers pay heartfelt tributes to tragic Airdrie mum-to-be Pamela
Last week’s Advertiser front-page story on the tragic sudden death of Airdrie mumto-be Pamela Ewart led to an outpouring of tributes from our Facebook readers.
Pamela, aged just 31, was almost eight months pregnant with her first child when she died last week.
Medics managed to save her baby, a little girl called Poppy, and the premature infant is now being cared for in hospital.
Tracey Gordon responded: “Such sad news. Hope baby Poppy is OK. Prayers for all the family.”
Sharron Donnelly commented: “Heartbreaking. My thoughts go out to this family. May you all find strength from each other to get through this time. I hope to God Poppy is going to be OK.”
Claire Kearney was also saddened: “Oh my heart literally just broke in two reading that! So sad, such a poor woman. Thoughts and prayers with her family.”
Janice Hamilton said: “Such an awful thing to happen to a young woman – thoughts and prayers are with her family. Praying for her wee girl.”
Margaret McGraw posted: “This is so sad. I’m sending the family a little prayer.”
Moira Boylen added: “So sad that she didn’t get the chance to be a mummy. RIP Pamela. Best wishes for Poppy’s future.”
In much happier news Coatbridge gold medal winner Joe Allan has been unveiled as the face of the Westfield Health British Transplant Games, which are taking place in North Lanarkshire next year.
The 17-year-old Buchanan High pupil struck gold when Liverpool hosted this summer’s games, after receiving a lifesaving donor kidney four years ago, and is now an ambassador for the 2017 event.
Merle Thomson posted: “Well done Joseph. Your mum and dad must be so proud of you!”
Pauline Walsh added: “Well done Joseph. So proud of you.”
Taylor MacPherson said: “Brilliant for Joseph. Well-deserved honour.”
