Gran was shocked by reflection

Roselyn inspired to lose weight

- Ian Bunting

Two years ago Roselyn Russell shied away from her own reflection due to her weight gain.

But the remarkable 49-year-old Coatbridge gran is much happier about life following a dedicated dieting campaign that has seen her shed 4½ stones in a year.

Roselyn’s soaring success led to her being crowned Miss Slinky by her friends at Old Monkland Parish Church hall’s Slimming World group.

A thrilled Roselyn said: “I was going through a rough patch after I suffered a really bad fall down a set of stairs and any time I looked in the mirror I didn’t like my own reflection.

“I decided to do something about it and joined my local Slimming World group.

“I’ve lost 4½ stones and have a new lease of life. I walk at least 10 miles a day and don’t get out of breath and I love going shopping for clothes now instead of hiding in the corner.”

Denise McCormick, consultant at the church Slimming World group, hailed Roselyn as a worthy winner of the Miss Slinky award.

Denise told the Advertiser: “Roselyn has been a great addition to the group and always stays for image therapy to helps existing and new members with her ideas, tips and recipes.

“She always makes everyone laugh and one of her grandsons Kyllian even comes to group to help with all the toys and work with the younger kids. Kyllian loves his gran getting awards and praise.

“The best thing Roselyn has done is walk through the Slimming World doors as she is like a totally new person.

“I couldn’t be prouder of her and it’s things like this that make my job worthwhile.

“It’s amazing to see such a transformation.”
