Chryston Primary kids steal the show
Pupils travelled back in time to mark five decades of education at their primary school.
The kids of Chryston Primary celebrated the school’s 50th anniversary with a“music through the decades” extravaganza over three shows.
And children from every class donned colourful costumes and wigs to entertain an audience packed with proud parents and grandparents with a magnificent medley of music and song from the swinging 60s through to the not-sodistant noughties.
The P6&7 mop-tops performed renditions of The Beatles’ classics to a crowd also consisting of former head teachers and local councillors.
And mini glam rockers strutted in platforms and wigs while others sported the tartan and flares of the Bay City Rollers.
P5s put on a monster performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller and East 17’s Stay Another Day, while the P3s were mesmerising as Irish 90s outfit Bewitched.
Kids in Choose Life T-shirts and rara skirts belted out a Wham medley, with others getting down as the Black Eyed Peas. And the P1s came live from Edinburgh’s New Year’s millennium celebrations to bring in the noughties.
The show ended with a sparkling finale on a stage filled with streamers and balloons, with the whole school singing a specially created song to the tune from the musical Shut Up and Dance.
Head teacher Audrey Burke said:“I’m so proud of all the children who took part in the show.
“The three performances were completely sold out and I’ve had great feedback from many of the parents and councillors who attended.
“Chryston Primary is a great school. I only took over in August but I feel so blessed.”
