Fight Club debut for talented Dawn

-

Airdrie Thai boxer Dawn Mitchell is looking forward to fighting an experienced veteran in her‘Fight Club’ debut.

Dawn, who has a 2-1-1 record, will take on experienced Michelle Riddles as the Fighting Scots Fight Night at the Alona Hotel this Saturday .

The Fight Club XIII bill will see 13 fighters compete on the night, with Dawn making her debut for the club.

She feels work with trainer Jan Cree has prepared her well.

She told the Advertiser: “I feel like I have been training well and have been learning from the best.

“Jan (Cree) has been great with me and I think she can take me to the next level.

“I just want to do my best. I don’t know much about Michelle, apart from that she is a coach in Manchester, but she will bring experience.

“Whatever happens I can learn and take things forward.”

Promoter Frank Gilluley was confident of Dawn’s ability ahead of her fight at this level. He said: “For Dawn this is her first Fight Club fight, she’s making her debut at this level, and she has had four fights so far, winning two, drawing one and losing one.

“She’s a good fighter and a forward fighter, so she won’t hold back and will really go for it. “She’s very keen and trains very hard as well. “She is a very good level of fighter for the little experience she has had – and she’s learning as she goes on.”

● Tickets are £39.50 for ringside and £35 reserved, and are available from the gym, individual fighters, or by visiting their Facebook page.
