The pair werewe caught out when McKay’s girlfriend, M Marion Carson, discovered his Facebo Facebook alias and revealed the fling to a fuming William, who called Louisa to hurl abuse at her.

When McKay later learned rned what happened to Louisa – his “number mber one” – he stormed William’s flat and d stabbed him seven times.

One of the eldest of Mr Scott’st’s eight children – teenager Kerilyn – has spoken n exclusively with the Advertiser about the guilty verdict delivered to McKay, calling it a “relief andd a weight off the family’s shoulders”.

The daughter of a dad-of-eight brutally slain in his Chapelhall home has said her family has finally been given “some closure” following a killer’s conviction for murder.

John McKay, 46, stabbed William Scott seven times – including a fatal blow to his stomach – at the victim’s flat in Gibb Street last April after William discovered McKay was having an affair with his former partner.

McKay – who denied the accusation – was found guilty of murder at the High Court in Glasgow last Thursday and faces life in jail when he is sentenced next month.

Kerilyn Scott, 18, the second-eldest of William’s children, had to listen to the horrific circumstances of her beloved dad’s death as she attended court during every session of the 10day trial.

The make-up artistry student told the Advertiser about the moment the jury revealed the unanimous verdict: “It was a real relief for us all, just to know that McKay is going to be punished for what he did to my dad.

“A big weight was lifted from the family’s shoulders and the verdict brings us some closure, especially my gran and papa who have been through a very tough time.

“I was in court every day and McKay just kept his head down the whole time. There was quite a few of the family there and it was hard having to hear all the evidence.

“The jury went out at about 10.40am and came back with their verdict at 2.15pm.

“Even though it was only a few hours’ wait, it felt a lot longer and I was very nervous waiting to hear it.

“But it was a unanimous guilty verdict and I knew then that McKay would have to face up to his awful actions.”

McKay had been having secret sex trysts with Louisa Corcoran, 34 – mum to five of William’s children.

But the pair were caught in the act when McKay’s girlfriend Marion Carson discovered his Facebook alias – Jane Dawson – on a fake page he had set up to chat with Louisa online.

Marion revealed the fling to a fuming William, 43, and he then called Louisa to confront her.

When first offender McKay found out about William’s verbal abuse towards Louisa – his “number one” – he stormed to William’s flat and brutally stabbed him seven times.

The jury heard it was a young girl who made the grim discovery of the dying William in his blood-stained property.

Kerilyn, from Gartlea, says her father’s premature and violent death has left a huge void in her life and the lives of her immediate family: “Dad was a really good father and he cared for all of his children.

“I lived with my mum, but still saw dad at weekends and I spoke to him on the phone every night.

“I miss him terribly and think about him every single day.

“There’s a massive hole in all of our lives and things will never be the same. “Dad was well known. “He got on with people and will be missed.”

McKay was remanded in custody pending sentencing on April 19 at the High Court in Edinburgh – and Kerilyn will once again be in attendance.

She said: “I am going back to hear the sentence handed down and I am hoping he gets the lengthy jail term he deserves.

“But no matter the punishment that gets dished out, nothing can ever bring my dad back.”
