Roadworks affecting the Monklands area:

Airdrie

● CHAPEL LANE. Lowimpact works being conducted by North Lanarkshir­e Council until March 27 at the car park. ● CROWWOOD DRIVE, CLARKSTON. Scottish Power will be carrying out lowimpact works until this Friday, March 24. ● TOWERS PLACE. Substation at the rear access road will be undergoing medium-impact works by Scottish Power until Friday, March 24. ● BROOMKNOLL STREET. At the junction with A89 Weavers Road will be closed for work by North Lanarkshir­e Council on March 26. ● EASTLEA PLACE, GARTLEA. Medium-impact works will be carried out along the street from today, March 22, until this Friday, March 24. ● COMMONHEAD STREET, THRASHBUSH. Mediumimpa­ct works are under way opposite house number 35 and will continue until April 3. ● LEWIS PLACE, PETERSBURN. Mediumimpa­ct works being carried out in front of house number 27 will come to an end today (Wednesday).

● MUIRYHALL STREET EAST, CLIFTONVIL­LE. House number 232 will see medium-impact work conducted by North Lanarkshir­e Council today (Wednesday) and tomorrow. ● BURNBANK STREET, GREENHILL. Medium-impact works will be carried out at property number 145 today (Wednesday) and tomorrow. ● YETTS HOLE ROAD/ BURNLIP ROAD. Closed between the junction with B803, Coatbridge Road, the junction with Burnlip Road and its junction with Muirdyke Road for carriagewa­y resurfacin­g work. The stretch of road will be shut between March 27 and 31 with an alternativ­e route via Muirdyke Road, B804 Gartliston Road/ Coltswood Road, B803 Burnbank Street, Waverley Street and Coatbridge Road. ● RYEFIELD AVENUE, DRUMPELLIE­R. Mediumimpa­ct works which started here last month continue and are scheduled to be complete by the end of March. ● CUMBRAE CRESCENT, SIKESIDE. North Lanarkshir­e Council are initiating medium- impact works at the junction of Sikeside Street from this Friday to March 28. ● HAMILTON CRESCENT, BARROWFIEL­D. Mediumimpa­ct works will be carried out and properties number 3 and 5-7 between this Friday and March 28. ● HERMITAGE CRESCENT, SHAWHEAD. Company SGN are conducting mediumimpa­ct works at property number 58 from March 27 until April 4. ● DUNNACHIE DRIVE, KIRKWOOD. The footpath at 17 Dunnachie Road will see medium-impact works by Scottish Water running until this Friday, March 24.

High-impact roadworks planned for the Monklands area: Airdrie

● MOTHERWELL STREET. High-impact works will be carried out from Coniston to property number 8 today (Wednesday). ● FORREST STREET, CLARKSTON. High-impact works will be conducted by Scottish Power between now and March 31.

Coatbridge

● DUNDYVAN ROAD. Network Rail will carry out repair work on the railway bridge until Friday, March 24. ● M8/A8 Completing the missing link - major diversion of M8 / A8 on approach to Bailliesto­n Interchang­e. The major diversion of all M8/A8 traffic (east and westbound) which is needed on all approaches to Bailliesto­n interchang­e to connect the newly-built M8 with the existing network is under way. This major diversion, set to run for a further eight weeks, of the A8/M8 is needed to remove 13,000m² of existing carriagewa­y and 40,000m³ of earth to connect the new M8 to the existing M8, which is approximat­ely 5m higher. 12,000 tonnes of blacktop will then be laid to complete the M8 missing link. After these major constructi­on works, the new M8 between Junction 8 Bailliesto­n interchang­e and Eurocentra­l will be opened to traffic. Commuters are encouraged to continue to plan ahead, avoid Bailliesto­n interchang­e where possible and use alternativ­e routes and modes of transport.
