Recipe for baking success

Brilliant bakers at Clarkston Primary unveiled a spectacula­r spread fit for cake queen Mary Berry.

As part of the school’s Fairtrade week celebratio­ns, pupils took part in a special bake-off event.

Channellin­g his inner Paul Hollywood, Andrew Chisholm – owner of popular Monklands bakers JB Christie – was on hand to act as judge for the competitiv­e contest.

Striking while the oven was hot to serve up a delicious treat was overall winner Hayley Flaherty.

Coming a close second was runner-up Lilly McPherson, with Andrew“hugely impressed”by the standards of all of the baking on display.

Lucky Andrew got to sample a wide array of tasty treats that wouldn’t look out of place in his Christie’s shops.
