Wall of fame for Bell apprentices

-

Airdrie firm Bell Decorating Group put its employees in the picture to mark national apprenticeship week.

Staff created a special“apprentice wall”at its Rochsolloch Road head office, featuring photos of current and former trainees – including group chief executive and chairman George Bell, who began his career as a 16-year-old apprentice painter.

Bell Group, which has 27 branches across the UK, created further displays at premises in Warrington and South London – showcasing every member of staff who started as an apprentice or trainee.

A spokesperson said:“We’re hoping it will show how many successful careers can result from traineeships – we have more than 800 staff members who started as apprentices or trainees.”

Neil Gray, the Airdrie & Shotts MP, attended the event and said:“George and Annette Bell have to be applauded in using the apprentice scheme so successfully, and this shows how much they value each and every one of their staff members.

“Apprenticeships are one of the best ways to get on-the-job training from people who are at the top of their field.”
