Primary kids’ fun at footie

-

Youngsters from Monklands hit the back of the net at a fun-filled football festival.

The kids displayed fancy footwork and ball skills during the Tesco Bank Football Challenge at the Ravenscraig regional sports facility.

Pupils from 10 primaries including St Mary’s, St Andrew’s, Glengowan, St David’s, St Timothy’s, All Saints, Kirkshaws, Carnbroe, St Bartholomew’s and Kirk O’Shotts, enjoyed the event.

The kids were the latest group to take part in the six weeks’coaching sessions of a five-year community programme which has been run in participation with the Scottish Football Association.

The project aims to introduce more 20,000 children between the ages of six and eight to the beautiful game in order to engage them in a healthy and active lifestyle.

Steven Hamilton, an SFA football development officer, said:“The Tesco Bank Football Challenge is a brilliant initiative that we’re proud to deliver to schools across the country.

“We were pleased to welcome the children to Ravenscraig Sport Facility for this latest festival after a great six weeks of coaching.”
