Prequel not classic Potter

Eddie Redmayne fails to convince in the lead role of this fun-but-flawed Harry Potter prequel.

He’s strangely subdued until the latter stages and outshone by most of his cast mates, especially a hugely endearing Dan Fogler.

Thankfully, though, the visuals are top notch, there’s enough magic in the air and the big, bold climax entertains.
