Dominant Carsons clip Eagle’s wings

Blazing a trail at top of the table

-

Carsons seem unstoppable in their pursuit of the Airdrie and District Darts title after a big win against The Eagle.

The Eagle, who are capable of giving any team a good game, couldn’t match the fire power of the league leaders.

They did make a contest of it after Brian Gallacher secured a 21-dart win and Craig McKinnon’s 180 with a 19-dart victory had the away team cheering.

There were some roars of joy when Ally Campbell’s 180 went in and kept the contest going - but Carson’s were just too good.

Graham Anderson got the ball rolling with a 20-dart win and was followed by Ernie Brown who had a 180 and a 19-dart win.

Ian Napier shot a 180 while 10 times local champ Derek Cunningham notched 16-dart and 19-dart wins.

UK Open champ Cameron Menzies fired in a 180 to round off a comprehensive victory for Carsons.

The Workmen’s B continue their pursuit of Carsons and saw off The Boar’s Head.

A 16-dart win for Gerry Brown and a 19- dart win for Ian Gibb kicked off the second placed side before a 180 and 20-dart win for Cammy Reynolds.

In the end, the game was over as a contest after the singles matches.

The Workmen’s A were leading the Bank Social Club 5-2. Kriss Ross’s 19-darter was little comfort for the visitors as they found themselves trailing the struggling Airdrie team.

Shug Laird gave the Bankies hope with a 21-darter, and after only one pairs victory for the four meant the Workmen’s A would have to settle for a point.

However, the plus point is that it is their first of the season and gives them something to build on.

The Albert Bar and The Forge fought out a close encounter with a draw probably being the right result in the end.

It is the Workmen’s C who continue to show good form, but they had a tough game this week in Caldercruix as they took on The Clansman.

Paul McGinley got the home side off to a great start with a 101 checkout which resulted in an 18-dart win, but in the end it was the visitors who made the most of their chances.

Kenny Campbell and Paul Cushen had 20- dart wins before Tom McIntosh netted a 19.

Ian McCaskill though continues to catch the eye and had 17-dart and 18-dart wins to help The Workmen’s C to another good win.

In the other game 17-dart and 19dart wins for Jim Parker helped The Swan to both points at the Wilson Arms. RESULTS for Monday, March 27: Workmen’s A 6 Bank Social Club 6, The Clansman 4 Workmen’s C 8, Wilsons Arms 4 The Swan 8, Workmen’s B 10 The Boar’s Head 2, Albert Bar 6 The Forge 6, Carsons 10 The Eagle 2.
