Reporter swaps notes to progress with music

Busking hobby takes back seat as he records in studio

- Ian Bunting

Advertiser reporter Andrew Bargh has swapped shorthand notes for musical ones with the launch of his first EP.

The part- time busker made the transition from street performer to studio recording artiste to release four original songs across a variety of digital platforms.

The 23-year-old’s EP, entitled All I’ve Ever Known, has been online and available to download since last month.

And last week around 100 people attended the Record Factory in Glasgow’s west end to show their support as Andrew performed with a live band and showcased his songs.

He said: “It was a night that I’ll never forget.

“Music might only be a hobby to me but playing in front of a great crowd and hearing them sing your songs back to you is a feeling that is hard to put into words.

“I don’t normally get nervous before I play, but last Thursday I felt a bit of pressure to deliver.

“I’ve had nothing but great feedback which means a lot to me.

“All the songs I write are based on real life experiences and to have the finished product online is something I’m really proud of.

“The launch night just topped everything off and I don’t think I could have asked for a better evening.”

Andrew, who also released a single earlier this year after being discovered on YouTube by two Belgian DJs, added: “I really enjoyed recording the EP as working in the studio on my own material was something I’ve never really done before.

“But for me music is all about performing live and I hope to do another gig soon as well as getting back out busking more often on Buchanan Street.

“Music is a very personal passion to me and it’s the little things that make it worthwhile.

“My dad played the drums in my band at the launch, my brother Michael played his first gig as the support act and my friend Lewis also launched his EP.

“It’s those kind of things that make music something I love.”

Andrew’s EP All I’ve Ever Known is available on Spotify, iTunes, and more.
