Social club Activities this week include bingo on Sunday night, with tickets on sale from 8pm and eyes down at 8.30pm. The Lucky Joker is drawn at 8.25pm on Sundays, with tickets – priced £1 – on sale from committee members and bar staff throughout the week. For further information see the club notice board.

Da Capo music group Practice takes place on Mondays from 6pm to 9pm in the congregational church hall on Broomknoll Street. Anyone interested in learning the flute or drums is welcome to attend; contact John on 07525 064303 to find out further details. Marching band Baillies Lane Flute Band practice sessions take place on Tuesdays in the social club from 7pm to 9pm; flute and drum learners are welcome to attend. Back Brae Gospel Hall The Sunday school runs from 2.30pm to 3.15pm, with the breaking of the bread also taking place on Sunday, at 11am. The evening gospel meeting is held at 6.30pm every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month when the service runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. A prayer and Bible reading is also held every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9pm. Miners’ memorial The Stanrigg Miners’ Memorial is open to all who wish to visit. July 9 next year will mark 100 years since 19 miners lost their lives in the disaster and anyone who would like to commemorate the anniversary can call 01236 830637. Transport to the memorial can also be arranged by calling the same number above.

Kids’ trip The children’s committee’s summer outing to Ayr will take place on Saturday, June 24, and application forms are now available from the social club, committee members or bar staff. The bus will leave the social club at 9.30am and do a pick-up at Airdrie Sheriff Court at 9.45am, before departing from Ayr at 6pm and dropping off at the usual points, returning to Greengairs at 8pm.

Councillor’s surgery Councillor Sophia Coyle will hold a surgery in the village community hall tonight from 6pm to 6.30pm.

Drop-in cafes held in the parish church next month will take place on Tuesdays, May 2 and 16, from 1pm to 3.30pm. The cafe is open to all who need a bit of company and like to enjoy home baking with tea and coffee.
