W/D youngsters back to winning ways

-

Waysiders/Drumpellier under-13’s took second place in their age group at the Dalziel festival.

W/D got off to a great start by beating the hosts Dalziel in a thrilling game by two tries to nil.

The second game against Lenzie was another close match - and the Langloan lads went down by one try to nil.

Next up was East Kilbride, and as both sides started brightly it was clear that the forward packs were going to be key.

The game ebbed and flowed but in the end East Kilbride were worthy 2-1 winners.

The last match of the festival was against Livingston and after back to back defeats the youngsters had to re-focus and put in one more performance.

Jonathon Davis was switched to the wing and Josh Holmes went to number 12.

That led to some superb link up play between scrum-half Matthew Burke and Brendon Hagerty - allowing Davis to run in a hat trick of tries in a 3-0 W/D win.

W/D celebrations were continued on Sunday as the Falkirk/WD under-15 Girls team took on Ayr Girls at Langloan and ran out comfortable 55-23 winners. This was a fantastic result against a very highly rated side, who will be contesting the West Region Shield Final next weekend
