Singers across Airdrie and Coat bridge looking to channel their inner Dolly Partons have their chance to shine as a musical group is recruiting for cast members for their take on hit musical 9 to 5.

Monklands Light Opera is looking for talented performers – aged 16 and over – to join the cast of their next big production, taking place later this year.

Based on the 1980 movie starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as three frustrated working women living out their fantasies of getting even with their boss, the Broadway musical features iconic tunes from Parton’s Oscar, Tony and Grammy Award nominated score.

These include Backwoods Barbie, Heart to Hart and the titular song, with Monklands Light Opera determined to do Parton proud and Shine Like the Sun as they belt out their renditions of the famous tunes.

A spokesperson for the group said: “If you love to act, sing or dance, then come along and become a part of the Monklands Light Opera family.

“9 to 5 follows on from our recent shows Little Shop of Horrors, Shout! The Mod Musical and Copacabana and we’re determined to deliver another knockout performance.”
