CCT V video could lead to Craig’s killers

-

The leading investigator into the murder of Coatbridge man Craig Mallon believes unearthed CCTV footage provides renewed optimism in his search for answers.

Craig, 26, was killed after a single punch to the head while on his brother’s stag weekend in Spain.

No- one has ever been arrested for the crime which took place early on the morning of May 19, 2012, in Lloret de Mar.

Craig’ s family and employers, engineering company Laing O’Rourke, sought the help and expertise of former detective superintendent David Swindle, who now runs Swindle Crime Solutions.

Mr Swindle – the man who snared serial killer Peter Tobin – has now identified on CCTV four French men entering the local police office at around 6.40am, less than an hour after Craig was killed.

He said: “The fatal blow was inflicted on Craig Mallon in front of numerous potential witnesses in a busy street.

“I would have thought it would have been a simple investigation but the basic steps were not followed.

“These are four French people who hold the key to what happened to Craig Mallon.

“They had their car towed away from a street behind the place where Craig was killed.

Mr Swindle concluded: “It’s important that we trace these four people and I’m sure that social media will drive this.”

Craig’s parents, Ian and Antoinette, have hailed the development.

They believe several people know who killed their son but have not, as yet, come forward.

Ian, 52, said: “This is the best lead ever. Several people have been sharing the appeal on social media.

“We have people in France sharing it as well.

“We need to find these men to see if they can assist.

“There are people out there that know what happened. Someone knows who did this.

“If there are people assisting them, they should put themselves in our shoes.”
