Schools in the running for national award

Two Monklands schools have been nominated for prizes at this year’s Scottish Education Awards.

Glenboig and Gartcosh primary schools are in the run running to claim national aw awards which recognise tho those who dedicate their live lives to children in the are area.

G Glenboig Primary is a fin finalist in the parents as pa partners in learning aw award, which recognises the role parents play in ed education, while Ga Gartcosh are up for the Ga Gaelic education award.

T This award takes a look ateat establishm­ents who pro provide opportunit­ies for chi children to develop flu fluency in the Gaelic lan language and culture.

G Glenboig and Gartcosh will attend the awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on June 7, where judges will unveil the winners of each of the 17 categories.

Isabelle Boyd, assistant chief executive for education, youth and communitie­s at North Lanarkshir­e Council, said: “I congratula­te everyone at Glenboig and Gartcosh primary schools on their nomination­s.

“Throughout all our schools in North Lanarkshir­e there is a huge amount of great work taking place to encourage our pupils to learn and develop in a stimulatin­g way.

“It’s a great achievemen­t that they have been nominated for national awards and we send them our best wishes for the finals.”
