Elton John’s support act for his muchanticipated Airdrie stadium gig has been announced.

S ou l - p o p s i n g e rsongwriter Jake Isaac will be appearing on the bill at the Wonderful Crazy Night show next month – and described it as “an insane privilege”.

He will also be supporting Sir Elton at a further six shows on the UK tour – in Twickenham, Derby, Blackburn, Peterborough, Ipswich and Widnes – ahead of the Excelsior Stadium date on June 24.

Jake said: “It’s an insane privilege to open up for the iconic sir Elton John – think I might actually have to play my socks off!”

He has just released his debut album, entitled Our Lives, and his music is described as a “distinctive brand of feisty soul pop, bold anthemic hooks, and instantly recognisable vocal”.

Coming from south London and with Caribbean roots, Jake has previously supported Ella Eyre and Paloma Faith, has sold out headline shows in the US and Europe as well as the UK and has achieved more than 30 million streams – all before signing to Elton John’s management company.

The Excelsior gig is now just five weeks away, with excitement building ahead of music icon Sir Elton’s spectacular show rolling into Monklands.

Stadium boss Paul Hetherington previously told the Advertiser: “The closer it get, the more I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s a major coup for the club, stadium, town and surrounding areas.

“To have secured Airdrieonians FC’s ground as the only Scottish venue of Sir Elton John’s 2017 UK tour is something we should all take pride in, and this will be a night to remember for all of us.”

Elton John’s guitarist and musical director Davey Johnstone told the Advertiser in an exclusive interview last month: “I’m really looking forward to it. We all are.

“As a band, we tend to go where other big-name performers don’t.

“It’s exciting for us to take the music to these places and have a laugh with the crowd, and we’re all looking forward to making a connection with the crowd and giving the fans what they want.”
