Race to the finish as run boosts Beatson Hospital
Fighting fit Monklands natives are being urged to pull on their running shoes this weekend in aid of a cancer-battling charity.
The annual Carluke on the Run, organised by Carluke Development Trust, supports the Lanarkshire Beatson at Monklands Hospital the Beatson organisation.
Fitness fanatics or steady strollers of all ages interested in taking part are asked to don their brightest yellow fancy dress and join in the fun this Sunday, with the fundraiser kicking off at the John Cumming Stadium in Carluke.
Participants have the option of running a 10k road race, 5k relay or family-friendly fun runs.
Morag Cunningham, head of fundraising at the Beatson Cancer Charity, said:“Carluke on the Run is a fantastic family event and we’re so proud to be chosen as the event’s nominated charity partner for a third year.
“More than one in three people are affected by cancer in the West of Scotland – the highest cancer rate in Europe.
“Working with the Carluke Development Trust is a fantastic way to raise funds while encouraging people to get active, have fun and fundraise.

“Each donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and will help give a massive boost to our radiotherapy treatment centre in Monklands Hospital.
“We hope everyone from Lanarkshire will join us in participating in Carluke on the Run – let’s race across the finishing line together.”
