Brush up on skills at Iain’s art group
A Calderbank pensioner is looking to draw in some new members to his art group.
Iain Johnston is canvassing for support from fellow fans of creative visual expression to pick up their pencils and paintbrushes to join his weekly meetings in the Parkinson’s Self Help Group’s Wellwynd base.
The 76-year-old and his group get together every Tuesday between 1pm and 3.30pm to produce their own art work and give each other advice.
Iain’s passion project was formerly aimed at pensioners, but the group organiser opened it out to people of all ages.
Iain said:“There are materials available to use but people can also bring their own as I know some prefer to use their own paints and pencils. We’ve got a lot going on, including prints, drawing, watercolours, illustrations and cartoons.
“I like people to try different things and get as creative as they can at each session.”
To join Iain’s art class, pop along to the Tuesday meetings or give him a call on 01236 766191.
