Bit sister and fought partner Double assault Removed lock at ex’s home

-

An out of control Cairnhill woman bit her sister and fought with her partner.

Nicole Stevenson turned violent towards her loved ones at her Kennedy Drive home in the run-up to Christmas.

She began on December 17 by biting her sister on the body.

The 21-year-old then had a stand-up fight with her partner before police were called to the scene.

Stevenson pled guilty to both charges and her sentencing was deferred at Airdrie Sheriff Court to give her the chance to prove she could keep out of trouble.

When Stevenson returned to the dock last week, the procurator fiscal and defence solicitor Paul Belardo both confirmed she had kept her nose clean.

Sheriff Petra Collins then told Stevenson: “You have done what was asked of you during the period of deferral so you are admonished.” A Chapelhall man who kicked a man on the head before booting a police officer on the body has been placed under supervision.

Dale Gray struck the man and spat at him at his Porters Lane home on December 11.

When police attended the scene Gray turned his aggressive attention on a male cop by kicking him on the body before being placed under arrest.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to both attacks at Airdrie Sheriff Court and was back for sentencing last week following the completion of background reports.

Defence solicitor John McGeechan told the court his client was suitable for a community-based disposal and Sheriff Petra Collins agreed to the request.

Gray was sentenced to a community payback order, as a direct alternative to a financial penalty, and placed under supervision for the next year. A Chapelhall man who subjected his ex-partner to a frightening experience has been fined in court.

David McGuire turned up at a property on Holehills Drive, Airdrie, on January 29 and removed the lock from one of the doors.

He then entered the house without permission and placed the woman in a state of fear and alarm.

Police were called and McGuire, 31, was arrested and charged with behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

The Cardell Crescent native pled guilty and returned to Airdrie Sheriff Court for sentencing last week after the compilation of criminal justice social work reports.

Sheriff Petra Collins decided to hit McGuire in the pocket, telling him: “You will be fined the sum of £120. This is reduced from £160 due to your plea of guilt.”

Thug punched partner’s head

A brute who punched his partner on the head will have to carry out unpaid work.

Stephen Rafferty, from Longriggend, struck his victim at his Old Viewfield home on April 2.

Rafferty, 28, of Derraig Gardens, was back at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week for sentencing after admitting the assault, following a deferral for reports carried out by the social work department and a restriction of liberty assessment.

Defence solicitor Paul Belardo expressed Rafferty’s remorse and regret over his actions.

Sheriff Petra Collins sentenced Rafferty to a community payback order as a direct alternative to jail time. Rafferty will have to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

Knife in street

Possession of a large kitchen knife led to a Chapelhall man being placed under supervision.

Sean Geddes was caught with the blade on Black Street, Airdrie, on April 5 last year.

The 24- year- old, of Kennilburn Road, owned up to his offence at Airdrie Sheriff Court and returned to face the music last week.

His solicitor said background reports showed Geddes was a suitable candidate for a community- based disposal.

Sheriff Petra Collins sentenced Geddes to a community payback order as a direct alternative to custody.

Geddes will be supervised by the court for the next year.

Drug supply

A Coatbridge teenager has been hit in the pocket for possession of a class B drug with the intent to supply.

Declan Brown was caught with cannabis at his Lloyds Street home on November 29.

The 19-year-old owned up to the offence at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

A deferral was ordered to examine Brown’s background ahead of his sentencing last week.

Sheriff Petra Collins told Brown: “I will deal with this by way of a financial penalty. You will be fined the sum of £800.”
