Focus on doorstep crime

-

Police officers in Monklands are launching a campaign to help vulnerable residents tackle doorstep crime.

This week marks the beginning of Police Scotland’s National Doorstep Crime initiative and the Airdrie and Coatbridge Safer Communities officers and Local Problem Solving teams will join forces to provide advice to help prevent future incidents.

The officers will also be working with Trading Standards to ensure businesses who trade in Monklands’ streets are legitimate and have the relevant identification and paperwork.

Inspector Louise Brownlie, of Coatbridge police, said: “Doorstep crime targets the most vulnerable in our communities and is directly linked to serious and organised crime throughout the UK.

“Monklands police will be working to keep vulnerable groups safe and reassure and empower local communities.

“If you have any information regarding door step crime, please contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to report crime anonymously.

“‘No Cold Callers’ door stickers can also be collected from Coatbridge police office’s front office.”
