Extra unpaid work for yob

-

A foul-mouthed Chapelhall yob who behaved in a threatening and abusive manner on a busy Glasgow subway platform has been sentenced to additional hours of unpaid work.

Lee Murphy repeatedly jumped up and down on the crowded platform at Ibrox station back on May 28, 2015.

He refused to stop when asked to do so and then began to shout and swear, act aggressively and spout aggressive remarks.

Murphy, 31, was later arrested and pleaded guilty to his conduct at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

The George Street resident was placed under a community payback order that included unpaid work in May last year.

However, Murphy was back in court last month accused of breaching the order – which he admitted while representing himself.

A deferral was ordered for background reports and Murphy returned to the dock last week to face up to the breach.

Sheriff Petra Collins chose to extend Murphy’s punishment by sentencing him to a further 30 hours of unpaid work, giving him “a further two months to complete the full 75 hours”.
