Social club

A lunch with karaoke is held each Tuesday from 1pm to 4pm in the function hall; all are welcome and there is an open floor available. For more information on events in the club, call 01236 606362.

Parent Action for Safe Play’s Growing Greener Project sees environmental officer David Payne working in Coatbridge to help residents reduce energy bills and waste and provide means to grow their own food. Community gardener Toni Garsyth is also on-site. Drop-in sessions (no appointment necessary) take place on Tuesdays from 11.30am to 4pm and Wednesdays from 2pm to 8pm. Green project Back Brae Gospel Hall

The Sunday school runs from 2.30pm to 3.15pm, with the breaking of the bread also taking place on Sunday, at 11am. The evening gospel meeting is held at 6.30pm every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month when the service runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. A prayer and Bible reading is also held every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Miners’ memorial

The Stanrigg Miners’ Memorial is open to all who wish to visit. July 9 next year will mark 100 years since 19 miners lost their lives in the disaster and anyone who would like to commemorate the anniversary can call 01236 830637. Transport to the memorial can also be arranged by calling the same number above.

The children’s committee’s summer outing to Ayr will take place on Saturday, June 24, and application forms are now available from the social club, committee members or bar staff; forms have to be returned before Sunday, June 10. The bus will leave the social club at 9.30am and do a pick-up at Airdrie Sheriff Court at 9.45am, before departing from Ayr at 6pm and dropping off at the usual points, returning to Greengairs at 8pm.\
