Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser
Military parade
A military parade will take place in Airdrie this Saturday.
The Royal Engineers’124 Field Support Squadron will be exercising their “Freedom of Airdrie” with their parade, to be followed by a civic reception.
It begins at noon at the pedestrianised section of Graham Street, with the soldiers heading straight through the town centre and along Alexander Street to the town’s war memorial.
They will then be reviewed there from approximately 12.20pm by Provost Jean Jones and a deputy lord lieutenant of Lanarkshire, with the parade expected to disperse half an hour later.
Organisers also hope that the parade will be supported by the accompaniment of reserve bands from the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
