Readers wish engaged couple well – and slam diner who viewed porn in restaurant

Advertiser Facebook readers were touched by the remarkable story of Plains couple Craig and Christina Ferguson, who had to postpone their wedding day at less than 48 hours’ notice due to Craig undergoing lifesaving kidney surgery.

Craig, 26, has lived with a debilitati­ng renal disease for almost 10 years and after spending the past 12 months anxiously awaiting a transplant, he finally received the call to tell him a match had been found.

Christina called Craig’s surgery the “best wedding present ever” and the couple hailed the helpful response from their venue and companies affected by the late cancellati­on of their nuptials.

Therese Coleman posted: “So pleased for you both! This is definitely winning the health lottery. Your future together just got so much better – good luck with the wedding.”

Paula Oliver Cox added: “Hope you are back to normal soon Craig. And all the best to you and Tina for the future.”

Jennifer Smillie said: “So happy for you guys!”

Angela Garvie Condie wished Craig a speedy recovery: “Get well soon Craig.”

Terry Anderson commented: “This will let them have an even happier life together.”

Also getting people talking was Townhead resident Derek Paterson’s disgust over his first wedding anniversar­y dinner at Coatbridge restaurant the Crown Jewel being ruined by a fellow diner who viewed porn on his phone.

Douglas Stewart responded: “That’s disgusting. Some folk really have no self pride.”

David Carey said: “There’s a time and a place for everything and that ain’t it!”

Meanwhile, Derek’s claims restaurant staff shouted at him and wife Kelli and called them liars when they raised their concerns shocked John Paul Smith: “Poor response from the restaurant. I often take my kids there and don’t think I would go back based on this.”
