It’s Labour/ Tories versus SNP

-

Dear Editor, In the local elections, when people put their faith in Labour to represent their interests, they were rewarded with the party joining once again with the Tories, this time in order to hold on to power in North Lanarkshire.

Remember this in the upcoming general election. Labour and their allies, the Tories, have no specific policies for Scotland; they only have one aim and that is not what is best for Scotland, but what will gain them power at Westminster.

The Tories, who are likely to do well in the election, have already said they are to means-test the heating allowance, undo the triple lock on state pensions and have people pay for healthcare in their old age by taking on insurance with their house used as collateral.

Would you really vote Tory for these measures to be implemented, or would you really vote Labour to see that they vote with the Tories or abstain to ensure these policies are implemented?

Look at what happened to the pensions of women who worked all their lives and were told their pensions would not be paid till they were 66. Think now about what will be happening to your pension and to your healthcare with a Tory government and a compliant Labour opposition.

The election on June 8 is a simple binary choice. Who do you trust to stand up for your future and look after you and your interests – an insular and inward-looking Tory/Labour collaboration, or an energetic and outward-looking party that has Scotland’s best interests at heart?
