Nurse hits target weight in double-quick time

Sheds five stones

- Ian Bunting

A Coatbridge nurse is in good health after shedding five stones in less than a year.

Samantha Taylor felt “fat and miserable” – and like a hypocrite for giving out fitness advice to patients during her day job – so decided to join her local weightloss group.

The 23-year-old has now gone from wearing a size 20 uniform at work and “dreading going clothes shopping for nights out with friends” to stepping out with confidence wearing her brandnew outfits after reaching her target weight – 10 stones and seven pounds – in staggeringly quick time.

Samantha said: “At my lowest point I realised that I wasn’t my usual outgoing self and was avoiding the camera more and more often.

“I was on holiday with friends in Ibiza and instead of being carefree and having fun, I was lying on the beach with a dress on and going into the sea with it on so I didn’t have to show my body.

“I felt like a bit of a fraud, working hard to become a nurse when I was advising patients on health education while wearing an XL tunic and size 20 trousers.

“At this point I knew I had to make changes and joined my local Slimming World group.

“I reached my target weight in less than a year and won’t be covering up this summer; I have a brand new wardrobe full of size 10 clothes that I want to show off.”

Consultant Jennifer Stevens added: “I am so proud of Samantha ; she is a very inspirational young lady.

“The confidence that losing weight has given her is extraordinary.”

Jennifer’s groups have moved to the Time Capsule in Coatbridge, taking place on Thursdays at 9.30am, 11.30am, 5.30pm and 7.30pm; call 07761 476364 to find out more information.
