An award- winning Coatbridge community organisation is opening its doors to local youngsters as the school summer holiday season approaches.

The Kirkshaws- based Parent Action for Safe Play ( PASP), “run by the local community for the local community”, host an activity club for five-to-12-year-olds at its Children and Youth Development Centre home on Mondays from 6pm to 8pm.

Young fans of the beautiful game can pop along to St Timothy’s Primary School for football coaching during the same day and time slot.

The centre hosts an indoor soft play area for kids aged up to eight on Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

A “fun and stimulating” additional support needs group takes place at PASP headquarters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the former group for five-to-eight-yearolds and the latter for nineto-12-year-olds, both from 6pm to 8pm.

A youth group for people aged 10-plus offering a “safe environment for young people to chill out and participate in recreational activities” runs at the centre on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm.

Those looking to hit the high notes and strike the right chords are invited along to a music group – for nineto-16-year-olds – on Fridays between 7pm and 9pm, with guitar and drum lessons on the agenda.

A PASP spokesperson said: “We welcome all youngsters in the area along to sample the many fun activities being provided by our dedicated team of staff.”
