Dining out to mark show of support for our hospice
Double celebration boosts fundraiser and work of bank
Business leaders across Lanarkshire gathered in the boardroom of Airdrie Savings Bank in a show of support for St Andrew’s Hospice’s ongoing capital appeal.
The dual aim of the private dinner was to recognise the appeal getting halfway towards its £ 9 million target and to celebrate the work of the 182- year- old bank – which is due to close in the autumn – in the community over the years, including its support for the hospice.
Airdrie Savings Bank chief executive Rod Ashley, who attended the dinner along with Jim Armstrong, one of the bank’s longserving trustees, said: “We were delighted to host this important dinner on behalf of the hospice.”
Capital appeal chairman Gilbert Cox added: “We have launched the appeal to completely modernise the hospice to meet the needs of our patients, their families and loved ones and also to comply with current legislation.
“The good news is that we are currently halfway there with our fundraising, having raised £ 5 million to date.
“However, we still have a long way to go and with the help of the people and businesses of Lanarkshire and beyond we will make this happen.
“We want to provide our patients with an environment that matches our excellent standards of care. Our equipment, heating, plumbing and electrical systems are out-dated and are no longer cost effective or efficient.
“Cha n g e s in clinical requirements are also a key factor in why this major refurbishment is needed, including compliance with healthcare standards on space.”
