\ Caldercrui­x

After 9’Ers activity group Meetings take place on Fridays from 1pm to 3pm in the community centre. The group is run by members of the community, for the community and activities include arts and crafts, fitness and cooking. The weekly cost is £1.50, which includes tea and snacks.

Church events Caldercrui­x Parish Church holds services at 10am on Sundays and a warm welcome is given to anyone who would like to join in. The Sunday club also takes place at 10am, open to all children from three years to high school age.

\ Glenmavis

Purple Heather Ladies will hold their next charity ceilidh on Monday, June 19, in the social club at 8pm. This will be a special ceilidh as money will be handed over to a representa­tive from the Beatson. This should be a great night of dance, bingo, raffles, friendship and more.

\ Greengairs

Social club Activities this week include bingo on Sunday night, with tickets on sale from 8pm and eyes down at 8.30pm. The Lucky Joker is drawn at 8.25pm on Sundays, with tickets – priced £1 – on sale from committee members and bar staff throughout the week. This Saturday sees JLOL102 attend their annual parade and fun day, and they will be accompanie­d by the Whinhall True Blues Flute Band. The bus will leave Airdrie Orange Social Club at 8.15am to go to Greengairs. They will parade from the hall at 9am following the usual route around the village and the main parade will be around Airdrie at 11am. The kids will then enjoy some fun and games in Airdrie Orange Social Club, before the return parade at 3pm. The Juveniles will return to the village at 4pm and follow the usual route, finishing at the social club. Organisers ask that people come out and show support for the kids. Da Capo music group Practice takes place on Mondays from 6pm to 9pm in the new venue of the orange hall on Baillies Lane. Anyone interested in learning the flute or drums is welcome to attend; contact John on 07525 064303 to find out further details. Drop-in cafe in Greengairs Parish Church will be held on Thursdays, July 6, and July 20. from 1pm to 3.30pm. Those who enjoy good company and home baking with tea or coffee are invited along.

Marching band Baillies Lane Flute Band practice sessions take place on Tuesdays in the social club from 7pm to 9pm; flute and drum learners are welcome to attend. Back Brae Gospel Hall The Sunday school runs from 2.30pm to 3.15pm, with the breaking of the bread also taking place on Sunday, at 11am. The evening gospel meeting is held at 6.30pm every Sunday, except the last Sunday of the month when the service runs from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. A prayer and Bible reading is also held every Wednesday from 7.30pm to 9pm. Miners’ memorial The Stanrigg Miners’ Memorial is open to all who wish to visit. July 9 next year will mark 100 years since 19 miners lost their lives in the disaster and anyone who would like to commemorat­e the anniversar­y can call 01236 830637. Transport to the memorial can also be arranged by calling the same number above.

Kids’ trip The children’s committee’s summer outing to Ayr will take place on Saturday, June 24, and applicatio­n forms should have been returned. The bus will leave the social club at 9.30am and do a pick-up at Airdrie Sheriff Court at 9.45am, before departing from Ayr at 6pm and dropping off at the usual points, returning to Greengairs at 8pm.

Villager death The village was shocked to hear of the death of Willie White, who spent his last two years in Rawyards Care Home. Locals wish to pass on their deepest sympathies to the White family.

\ Craigneuk Craigneuk and Old Petersburn tenants’ and residents’ associatio­n meet on the second Monday of each month at New Broomfield. The group’s next meeting takes place on July 10 at 7pm. Craigneuk & Petersburn Action

For Kids run fun sports and play activities each Monday at Dunrobin Primary School from 6pm to 8pm for children aged three-to-12 years. Hall events A tea and coffee morning and bric-a-brac sale takes place at St Mary’s Hall every Wednesday at 10.30am. Bingo is also held in the hall on Wednesdays, at 7.30pm.

Bowling club The ladies’ section enjoyed success in the Bowls Scotland District Finals on Sunday with the pairs, triples and fours all winning their respective ties and qualifying to play in the National Finals in July. Scouts meetings 1st Clyde Scouts’ weekly meetings take place on Wednesdays at the St David’s and Plains primary schools’ campus. Beavers for six to eight-year-olds meet from 6.15pm to 7.15pm and Cubs for ages eight to 10 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. The cost for both meetings is £2.50 and youngsters attending are asked to take soft shoes and a drink. Volunteers and new starts are welcome to attend. Four Isles events A boxing club for people aged eight and over runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Four Isles Community Centre from 6pm to 8pm. The venue also hosts an over-50s group on Mondays from noon to 2pm, a toddlers’ group for kids from birth to three years on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am until noon and prize bingo on Tuesday nights from 7pm to 9pm. Creative writing group meets on the first and third Friday of each month at Chapelside centre on Black Street, from 1pm to 3pm. The group is looking for new members and welcomes all those interested in writing in a diverse range of genres, including poetry, short stories and local history.

Recovery cafe Love N’Light Recovery Org’s recovery cafe takes place at Pilgrim Community Centre, Victoria Place, every Saturday from noon to 4pm. Nearly new sale will take place at Ebenezer Congregati­onal Church, on Broomknoll Street this Friday from 10.30am. Organisers have also revealed there will be no sale held on Friday, June 30.

Keep Fit club at the sports centre at St Margaret’s High meets from 7pm to 9pm, with the first part of the evening taking the form of gentle exercise, with football skills later in the session. The club meets on Mondays; the weekly cost is £4 with members also paying a £3 annual subscripti­on, and surplus funds go to charity.

Indoor Bowling Club The summer league runs every Monday and Thursday from 7pm to 9pm and Friday from 10am to 12pm. The cost is £3 for members and £4 for non-members, for two hours play. All visitors will be made welcome and if they’d like to try a game of bowls, shoes and bowls can be provided free of charge. Rink fees are £2.30 per hour and coaching can be arranged if needed.
