Fathers’ Day fundraising
More than 500 people attended the inaugural Fathers’ Day fundraising run by St Andrew’s Hospice – raising a grand total of £9000 for the Airdrie charity’s capital appeal.
The event took place at Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton and included attractions such as inflatables, crazy golf, a chocolate workshop, cartoons, face painting and ice cream.
Live music was performed by Davy Lees, Mhairi Philipson, James Kennedy and Lewis Douglas Easten, while the fun day was hosted by Grant Thomson of Clyde 1.
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue brought along a fire engine which proved a popular attraction and visitors also completed“I love my Dad because...”cards, which were later attached to balloons released at the end of the event.
The fun day was sponsored by the Ellen Kane Trust, and thanks were extended from the hospice organisers to all those who volunteered and donated time and prizes and to the staff of Chatelherault.
St Andrew’s capital appeal director Karen McFadyen said:“Everyone who attended our fun day had a fabulous time, and it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves and supporting our appeal at the same time.”
All proceeds will go towards the hospice’s refurbishment project, which is underway at its Henderson Street base – with £4m still needing to be raised to reach the £9m target.
