a stalker is behind bars and banned from contacting his ex for 10 years after bombarding the woman with dozens of text messages and phone calls, breaching bail conditions he received after assaulting her in January.

Text pest Steven Morrison, 42, pleaded guilty to contacting his frightened ex at least 50 times between April 9 and April 29.

Morrison was under strict orders not to contact the woman, who lives in Airdrie and suffers from anxiety, as part of the bail conditions of his previous assault.

The messages were not of a threatening or abusive nature, but the constant contact from Morrison prompted his terrified victim to move to a new address in an attempt to free herself of his attentions.

The procurator fiscal told the court: “The accused and the complainer were in a relationship before she ended it in January.

“During a two week period in April, she received 50 texts from the accused which made her feel extremely uncomfortable.

“She informed a colleague of the texts and that her ex-partner was breaching bail conditions, leading to her colleague informing the police.
