Saturday night saw Airdrie rock along to musical legend Sir Elton John as 14,000 fans lapped up the icon’s performance at Excelsior Stadium, including Greg Cairns: “What a great gig! Elton was in fine form and the crowd loved it.”

Liam Rhodes was also in attendance at the Rocket Man’s show: “Elton, you are a legend. You rocked Airdrie tonight! Superb gig that I will never forget.”

Former Airdrie MP Pamela Nash tweeted: “I have shed so many happy tears tonight with Airdrie dancing in the aisles to #EltonJohn. #MorePlease.”

On to other matters and @ Hearthstoker picked up on our headline ‘Corbyn bounce breathes new life into Labour’for Central Scotland MSP Elaine Smith’s column about Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in last week’s paper :“There’s no way that the Corbyn bounce will catch on as a dance craze!”

Sticking with politics – sort of – Coatbridge MSP Fulton MacGregor was appreciative about our story on the birth of his second baby son, Ruan – while pointing out a discrepancy in the baby’s size: “Thanks @ acadvertiser for the story on birth of wee one. Nice touch! Only one point, he was 8lb 12, not 12lb 8 – now that would have been big!”
