Family’s dream trip from Coatbridge firm
A father and daughter are jetting off to the Big Apple after their family was gifted the special trip, having helped promote and raise funds for a cause close to their hearts.
Martin and Jennifer Foy will experience the sights and sounds of New York – in a trip donated by United Airlines and Coatbridge-based firm Love to Travel – following the annual fundraising ball run by learning disability charity Enable.
The winner of the star prize chose to gift it to the Gartcosh family after seeing mum Jackie speak in the event’s fundraising film about Enable’s after-school club Rascals, used by eight-year-old son Patrick.
Supporting children with learning disabilities was the focus of this year’s ball, which raised a total of £160,000 and will help Rascals continue its vital work.
Jackie, who led a 30-strong team in this year’s Kiltwalk to raise funds for Rascals, called the service“a lifeline”.
She added:“It’s good to see Jennifer getting some quality time – this break is a reward for everything she does for her brother, Patrick. She deserves it.”
Love to Travel representative Joanne Dooey said:“We’re proud to support the Enable Scotland ball and are so glad the prize went to a family like Jackie’s who use Rascals; they deserve this break and we hope they have a wonderful time.”
