Readers voice their disgust as depraved paedophile Walker released from prison

-

Emotional Advertiser Facebook readers gave their reaction to last week’s front-page story revealing that Coatbridge paedophile Charles Walker had been released from prison after serving just nine months.

The furious mother of a young girl who was abused by vile Walker labelled the justice system “a joke” following his release and told us she was keen to ensure the pervert lives nowhere near any members of her family.

Lesley Maxwell Brown responded: “What is wrong with our justice system? Well, they better not stick him near me or my grandkids.”

June McLenachan agreed with the victim’s mother: “Yes, our justice system is a joke. And even if he isn’t housed near the family he will be housed near a family. Totally disgusting.”

Amy McLelland posted: “Total joke. I’ve seen longer terms handed to thieves and a lot lesser charges given tougher sentencing.”

Bernadette Connolly claimed: “This is NOT justice!”

Maggie Lawson commented: “Disgusting. The law must be changed to keep these folk off the streets.”

Val McConville asked: “Oh my god, what is it with our system!?”

In more pleasant news from last week’s Advertiser, kind-hearted Greggs workers and customers raised a four-figure sum to help fund research into a rare genetic disorder.

Bakery worker May Cochrane’s four-yearold granddaughter Katie has Rett syndrome, which affects around one in 12,000 children, almost exclusively girls.

Several Greggs outlets collected £1800 for Reverse Rett, a charity which aims to find a cure for the disease.

Jennifer Williams posted: “Well done to everyone involved in this fundraising effort. Hopefully a cure for Rett syndrome can be found.”

Leeanne Murphy said: “Miss wee Katie, hope she’s keeping well.”
