MSP to host coffee morning
Fulton MacGregor will host a “blooming great” coffee morning later this month in aid of the Marie Curie charity.
The Coatbridge and Chryston MSP is inviting constituents to his Main Street office for the event next Friday, August 25.
I t comes after he was recently visited by representatives from the charity, which supports people living with a terminal illness and their families, with its nurses providing hands- on care and vital emotional support.
Marie Curie supported 425 people in the NHS Lanarkshire health board area during 2016-2017, in a total of 3568 community nursing visits.
Following the visit, Mr MacGregor expressed his support for the charity’s local fundraising group in Airdrie and Coatbridge, saying: “I’d like to thank staff and volunteers for all the work they do in support of this amazing organisation.
“I learned more about the care and support the charity provides for people living with a terminal illness, and their families; and I’m delighted to open my office for a coffee morning to raise awareness and funds.”
Elma Mitchell, the charity’s North Lanarkshire fundraiser, said: “We shared examples of the difference that local fundraising helps provide to Mr MacGregor’s constituents, and we’re delighted that he is planning to show his support by holding a ‘blooming great’ tea party.
“Volunteering or joining a fundraising group is a really great way to raise funds locally for Marie Curie while also meeting new people and having fun.”
