LaFontaines heading back to the racecourse

- Shirley Bartynek

Lanarkshire-band The LaFontaines will be back playing to a hometown crowd next month.

The guys will be rocking the stage at Hamilton Park Racecourse’s 2017 Music Festival Racenight on Saturday, September 2, and will be on the same bill as the Fun Lovin’ Criminals. This is the second time the event has been held and The LaFontaines, from Motherwell, are delighted to have been asked back. Kerr Okan, frontman of The LaFontaines, said: “It’s great to be back home playing to a hometown crowd, even if it is across the wrong side of the Strathy.

“It wasn’t long ago we were playing frisbee with the Fun Lovin’ Criminal guys at the Barrowlands as well, so it’ll be a good laugh again no doubt. The line-up looks great, can’t wait!”

Also on the line-up at Hamilton Park is rock band Cast who will be performing music from their new album Kicking up the Dust, as well as massive hits Walkaway and Fine Time.

Paisley’s finest, The Vegan Leather, will also rock the venue alongside an array of talented musicians before and after racing, with the main stage kicking off from noon with live music right through to 11pm.

With less than four weeks to go, the event promises visitors a unique experience of live music and top-class racing, set against the stunning backdrop of Hamilton Park Racecourse.

Advance discount tickets for the Totepool Music Festival Racenight on Saturday, September 2, are available and can be purchased for £25 at www.hamilton-park.co.uk by calling 01698 283806.

Tickets are also available at www.ticketweb.co.uk. Student tickets are priced at £15. Children under-18 go free. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

It’s been an exciting time for The LaFontaines, as last week the guys released details of their Common Problem UK tour.

Their second album, Common Problem, will be released in October 27 via A Wolf At Your Door Records.

This was recorded over a period of two weeks in Manchester at the beginning of February and the band can’t wait to share it with fans.

They will be hitting the road in November to support this, including a stop at the world-famous Glasgow Barrowlands for a second time, with special guests The Dykeenies.

Fans can pre-order the album and will have access to pre-sale tickets via The La Fontaine’s online store.
