Bureau to offer training

Volunteer support

- Ian Bunting

Airdrie Citizens Advice Bureau is running a training programme fo r M o n k l a n d s residents interested in volunteering with the organisation.

The 11- week- l o n g initiative gets off and running next Tuesday and will see tutor-led sessions on offer covering online learning and practical work.

A spokesperson for the bureau told the Advertiser: “Training to be an adviser will suit those who enjoy working with people and are looking for a new challenge.

“It may particularly suit those who may have recently retired or are thinking of returning to the job market.

“No experi e n c e is necessary, but recruits must be over 18-years-old and prepared to commit seven hours per week, for a minimum of six months, after their completion of the bureau’s training programme.”

Anyone interested in taking part in the training programme can contact the bureau by calling 01236 754109 for a recruitment pack, or to find out more about what the sessions have to offer.

Meanwhile, the bureau’s advice surgeries are back running as normal following a break for the September weekend holiday.

They take place at Monklands Hos p i t a l , every Monday, alternating between a half and full day, Plains and Caldercruix community centres on Tuesdays and Salsburgh community centre each Wednesday.

For further details on the times of the surgeries, phone the number above, or email bureau@airdriecab. casonline.org.uk.
