All eyes on the prizes

The spot­light shone on se­niors at St Am­brose High as the Coat­bridge school hosted a glit­ter­ing awards cer­e­mony.

Multi-tal­ented S4-6 young­sters were cheered on by proud-as-punch par­ents, fam­ily and friends as they scooped a range of pres­ti­gious prizes.

The hon­ours re­flected all of the hard work put in over the pre­vi­ous school ses­sion and the di­verse awards dished out was a tes­ta­ment to the type of self­less ded­i­ca­tion be­ing put in by pupils in school, at home and within the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

Among those recog­nised were nine stu­dents, Jun­hua Lin, Joshua McCormick, Sam­son Tay­lor, Emma O’Brien, Melissa Ross, Mia Gu­rure, Alice Kane, El­lie McCor­mack and Molly McDines, who se­cured A grades in their Na­tional 5 ex­ams.

Cal­lum Mur­ray, Scott Fin­nieston, Sarah Don­ald­son and Kelly Quigley won the Camp­bell Schol­ar­ship for achiev­ing five A’s in their Higher sub­jects and Ryan Kelly re­ceived the Livingstone Award for ser­vice to the com­mu­nity.

Other awards handed down marked pupils’ex­cel­lence in their Higher and Na­tional 5 ex­ams and well-earned pride was writ­ten all over the faces of ev­ery win­ner.

A spokesper­son for the school said: “The se­nior awards cer­e­mony is al­ways one of the most an­tic­i­pated dates on the school cal­en­dar and we wish to con­grat­u­late all of the win­ners.

“They have done fan­tas­ti­cally well and we were hon­oured to be able to give them a nice, well-de­served re­ward for all of their hard work through­out the ses­sion.”
